
Achievements
More than 1000 students recognised till date.
The Society's activities started in 2001 with selection of one young scientist (researcher) from the field of chemistry for KVRSS research award. As the Society grew, the number of categories (scientific disciplines) and corresponding awards increased. Programs for school students were started in 2004 and now the Society gives more than 40 awards in various categories every year and has recognised more than 1000 awards as of date.
More than 100,000 students have participated in various activities.
Participation of students in various activities has increased with years and as on date more than 100,000 students have participated in various events.
Established Science Innovation Centre.
To impart hands-on science concepts learning established Science Innovation Centre in 2021 with support from M/s Electronic Arts, Hyderabad and inaugurated by Dr. K. Kasturirangan, Former Chairmen, ISRO, for school students of classes 7 to 10.
Developed Mobile Science Lab.
A Lab-on-Wheels was developed in 2022 with the support from M/s Lalitha Varanasi Fund, California and inaugurated by Ms. Sabitha Indra Reddy, Education Minister, Government of Telangana to take hands-on science to the doorstep of schools with inadequate lab facilities, both at government and small private and aided schools.
Programs / Activities extended to National level.
Starting with Andhra Pradesh, extending to all south states, expanded most of the activities to pan India level.
Collaborative Activities with Research Institutions.
Invited to part of some of the activities by some Academic and research institutions, like CSIR-IICT, CSIR-CCMB, University of Hyderabad, for their outreach programmes.
Partnering with Educational Institutions.
Invited by many private schools, educational institutions and government schools for conduct of events for them.
Teach the Teacher
Training the teachers in experiential STEM activities KVRSS is able to reach to many more students in its quest to popularise science.
Corporate support for promoting Science
KVRSS has received support from various Corporates like EA-Hyderabad, Amazon, Google, Microsoft in kind or tech tools.
Support from Funding Agencies
KVRSS has received support from Lalitha Varanasi Fund through OCCF California for development of Mobile Science lab and providing support to students in far flung areas.
Issue of Special Postage Cover on Dr. K. V. Rao by Department of Posts
To commemorate 15 years of service to science by Dr. K. V. Rao Scientific Society a Special Cover as a tribute to Dr. K. V. Rao, in association with Department of Posts, A.P. Circle, Hyderabad was issued on March 21, 2015.
