Achievements

More than 500 students received awards till date

The Society's activities started in 2001 with selection of one young scientist (researcher) from the field of chemistry and giving KVRSS research award. As the Society grew, the number of categories (scientific disciplines) and corresponding awards increased. Programs for school students were started in 2004 and now the Society gives more than 40 awards in various categories every year and has given more than 500 awards as of date.

More than 20000 students have participated in various activities of KVRSS.

Participation of students in various activities of KVRSS has increased with years and as on date more than 20000 students have participated in various events of KVRSS.

Issue of Special Postage Cover On Dr. K. V. Rao.

To commemorate 15 years of service to science by Dr. K. V. Rao Scientific Society a Special Cover as a tribute to Dr. K. V. Rao, in association with Department of Posts, A.P. Circle, Hyderabad was issued on March 21, 2015. The Special Cover was released by Col. M. Eleesha, IPoS, Postmaster General (HQ), A.P. Circle, Hyderabad. Sri G.M.N. Sastry, Deputy Director General (Chemistry), Geological Survey of India, Hyderabad and Prof. Amitabha Chattopadhyay, Distinguished Scientist, CCMB, Hyderabad were also present on that occasion. Approved and Supported by NASSCOM Foundation.

The Society received support from NASSCOM Foundation, the social arm of NASSCOM (the internationally recognized trade body representative of the Indian IT-BPM industry). KVRSS has been registered by the Foundation to receive support from its various member companies. As part of its Big Tech initiative the Society has already received support from Microsoft and Google.

MOU with CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT).

KVRSS has entered into an MOU with CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), Hyderabad in 2018 for promotion and popularization of science among school students. KVRSS has been given the mandate to facilitate visits by school children to the labs of IICT and arrange talks by scientists of IICT at various schools.

Collaborative Activities with Research Institutions.

KVRSS has been invited to part of some of the activities by some Academic and research institutions, like CSIR-CCMB and University of Hyderabad for their outreach programmes.

Partnering with Educational Institutions.

KVRSS is being invited by many educational institutions (Sherwood, Chinmaya, Unicent, Little Scholar) and government schools for conduct of events for them.

Corporate support for promoting Science.

KVRSS has received funding from EA-Hyderabad for development of an Innovation centre to support and develop innovative ideas by school students.

Support from Funding Agencies.

KVRSS has received support from OCCF fund, based at California for development of Mobile labs and providing support to students in far flung areas. The project has started and expected to complete soon.
